Migrant employees of Jal Shakti without salaries

JAMMU, May 24: All Kashmiri Displaced Employees Welfare Association (AKDEWA) has expressed concern over non payment of salaries of Jal Shakti (PHE) migrant employees for the month of March and April.
In a statement issued here, today the Association said these employees are going through lot of miseries due to non-payment of the salaries. The employees were drawing their salaries from the city division First since the displacement from the Valley. Four city divisions of Jal Shakti (PHE) were transferred to Municipal Corporation, Jammu. These divisions joined Municipal Corporation Jammu on April 1, 2022 including forty-four migrant employees. However Municipal Corporation conveyed that the order is silent regarding the withdrawal of salaries of these migrant employees, the Association added.
It said sadly the provision for the salaries of these employees has not been kept for the financial year of 2022-2023 which was however kept in the financial year of 2021-2022. The representation of these migrant employees yielded no results. In its communiqué Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti (PHE) has already written to higher authorities regarding the matter. However nothing tangible has been done so far.
Since the price escalation has touched skies, these employees are suffering from acute problems while meeting their daily needs like medicines, food, education of their children etc.
In a meeting held under the chairmanship of president of the Association the employees have requested to the authorities concerned to take expedited steps to resolve the matter and mitigate their problems. The employees have also appealed to LG, Manoj Sinha, to intervene in the matter and resolve the issue.
