Migrant family demands restoration of prime land

KULGAM, Aug 7: Ashish Kumar, a migrant from South Kashmir district of Kulgam has appealed the Government to get the eight marlas of prime land belonging to him and his other three brothers restored which has been under the forcible occupation of some anti social elements in the area.
Mr Kumar in a statement today said that eight marlas of prime land located in the center of Kulgam town has been forcibly grabbed by some anti-social elements in connivance with Revenue Officials of tehsil Kulgam by mutating the land records.
He said when his brother Jai Krishan Gosani approached the tehsildar Kulgam recently to make an appeal against the encroachment and tress passing of his ancestral land he was harassed by the officer and later arrested for seeking justice.
The family, which feels completely harassed through the hands of revenue authorities of tehsil Kulgam who instead of restoring their prime land in the town has threatened them of dire consequences has made an appeal to Revenue Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Raman Bhalla, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam seeking their intervention in the matter and demanded action against the land grabbers and Revenue Officials for mutating the land records.
Meanwhile some KP organizations have also expressed their concern over the issue and the biased and partisan approach of the revenue authorities of tehsil Kulgam and sought action under rules against them. The KP organizations warned agitation in case the poor brothers leading an exiled life for last 23 years were not given justice by the authorities.
They said the role of tehsildar Kulgam as reported by Jai Krishan and Ashish Gosani was uncalled for and highly objectionable who instead of dispensation of justice have acted in a partisan manner. This way the migrants have lost their confidence on the administration.
