Migrants delegation calls on Chief Electoral Officer

JAMMU, July 25: Kashmiri migrants demanded abolition of M Forms , MMPB, PMPB , DMPB , 12-C forms and setting up of large number of physical voting system of polling stations through (EVM) and political reservation of eight seats in Assembly, one each seat in Lok and Rajya Sabha.
A deputation of Kashmiri migrants under the leadership of its Chairman/ President , Ramesh Chander Mahajan called on P K Pole, Chief Electoral Officer J&K, here, today. The deputation submitted a memorandum in this regards and put forth its demands.
The delegation demanded abolition of M Forms, MMPB, PMPB , DMPB and 12-C forms keeping in view their time period of 33 years in exile to provide right to cast their franchise and change the formalities and stressed on scrapping /doing away with “cumbersome” process of filling up of M Forms, MMPB, PMPB and DMPB ,12-C forms for Parliament, Assembly elections , Urban Local Bodies , Panchayats and DDC elections to ensure the 100% voting turn out and maximum participation of migrants in the upcoming elections by setting up large number of physical voting system of polling station through Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) once for all at their nearest respective places , areas of Jammu , Udhampur , Delhi and other place of country to elect their representative.
Moreover , the delegation demanded issuance of  directions  to the all concerned district BLOs and  district election  offices  of  Kashmir  Valley  for updating of Aadhaar linkage with EPIC along with immediate issuance of pending districts and new Assembly constituencies wises EPIC/voter card on top priority.
Seven lakh Kashmiri Hindus seeking political reservation of eight Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in 10 districts of Valley and reservation of one seat each in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. It further demanded that Kashmiri migrants should be declared as internally displaced people with grant of minority status to them.
The CEO issued on spot directions to concerned officers and they assured the delegation that their genuine demands will be rereleased shortly.
