JAMMU, Nov 28: An emergency meeting of Kashmiri migrants was held under the chairmanship of Er Ramesh Chander Mahajan President Kashmiri Khatri Hindu Maha Sabha in which the problems being faced by the displaced people since 1990 were discussed.
The meeting alleged that the successive Central and State governments have totally failed in addressing these problems. It alleged that the Government was deliberately ignoring the displaced Pandits with the result the community is in total desperation.
“It is unfortunate that the migrants have not been extended right of political reservation as such their voice could not be raised by any elected MLAs/Parliament members in the State Legislative as well as in the Parliament and hence 2.50 lakhs Kashmiri Hindu families who were forced to leave the Valley in 1990’s and live like nomads in different parts of the country for searching their livelihood are in great desperation”, meeting said.
Their condition in camps is miserable due to lack of basic amenities, there are helpless widows, orphans, some students could not continue education due to lack of resources,17000 migrants employees retired since 1990 and the youth of the community were not absorbed in their place while PM’s employment package turned a total failure, it added.
