Migrants living in Nagrota, Jagti lack basic amenities: Wanchoo

JAMMU, May 15: BJYM State media in charge and Prabhari Kashmir Displaced District (KDD), Chetan Wanchoo today said the migrants living in Nagrota TRT and Jagti township lack basic amenities and have been craving for attention.
Wanchoo visited the TRT camp, Nagrota and Jagti township to take stock of the problems being faced by the Kashmiri Pandits putting up there. District president BJYM, KDD, Rohit Gangoo and Mandal president, BJYM KDD, Vatsal Bhan was also present.
He said the condition of these quarters is worst as the “The roof tops and walls of these buildings developed cracks and leakages which were not being repaired by the concerned department. Inmates at several occasions brought the problems into the notice of men at helms but to no avail and they continued to suffer each passing year,” he added.
Besides, Wanchoo asserted that the Kashmiri migrants are lack healthcare facilities. He said there is dire need to improve facilities at Sub District Hospital Jagti and Nagrota TRT which is catering to the needs of displaced Kashmiri Pandits and residents living in the vicinity.
He said that the KPs which are living in the vicinity since last over three decades are totally dependent on this hospital but the poor infrastructure and handful of facilities are forcing them to look for the same in other places. He said even there was no ambulance available at TRT to shift a patient to Jammu in case of any emergency.
Wanchoo said that there was huge shortage of drinking water in the camps. Despite taking up the matter with the authorities concerned no steps have been taken to address their issues. He sought immediate intervention of Lt Governor in redressing the problems of the camp inmates.
