JAMMU, Nov 11: On the 41st day of their protest the Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) activists took out a procession in Jagti township today and reiterated their demands. The JTC and SKF president, Shadi Lal Pandita warned to go on fast unto death if Government continues delaying tactics on the demands.
Addressing the demonstration, Pandita said that during last 31 years of KPs exile the community has been totally ignored with the result the problems are piling up day by day.
He reiterated his demand of settling Pandits in Kashmir Valley -their birth place by carving out three satellite townships in erstwhile districts of Anantnag, Srinagar and Baramulla besides hiking the cash relief to Rs 25000 per month with announcement of 20000 jobs including 5000 class fourth posts.
Meanwhile, supporting the JTC and SKF protestors Congress today urged the Government to settle the demands raised by activists of JTC and SKF on humanitarian grounds.
The Congress Migrant Cell chairman, Hira Lal Pandita and its general secretary, CL Kandi who took up the issue with PCC chief, G A Mir said party fully backs the agitating migrants who are fighting for their demands.
Justifying the enhancement of cash relief and job package for the displaced youth, Pandita said it is unfortunate that Governments at Centre and State have failed to rehabilitate the displaced people from Valley in last 32 years and the BJP Government totally ignored these hapless people during its six year rule at Centre.
He said the displaced people totally dependent on cash doles can’t make their both ends meet on a meagre cash relief of Rs 13000 in such hard times when prices of essential commodities have touched peak. He also criticized the Government for its failure in providing accommodation to the package employees in Valley and said in last 10 years it failed to construct quarters for these employees in Kashmir.
Pandita warned that Congress party will join the agitation and in support of the JTC and SKF in case Government failed to settle the issues immediately. He also made an appeal to all KP organizations to join the struggle launched by the two organizations for community cause.
