RAJOURI, Aug 14: The Centre Government and UT Administration must wake up to the deteriorating situation and give befitting response to Pakistan to check rising militancy and infiltration in the border areas of Rajouri-Poonch, said the senior JKPCC leaders Raman Bhalla, Ravinder Sharma and Balwan Singh who along with District Congress committee leaders led by DCC president Shabir Ahmed Khan visited the residence of grenade blast victims in Rajouri town today to express sympathy apart from taking stock of the overall situation in the district.
The senior Congress leaders expressed solidarity with families of the grenade blast tragedy in which an infant child of two years was killed and six others injured while another young boy Ankush Bakshi was brutally murdered under mysterious circumstances by unidentified persons a couple of days back.
Congress leaders conveyed deep sympathy with the victim families, on behalf of entire leadership of the party and prayed for peace to the departed souls. They also interacted with different groups of people and party workers en-route at Bhambla, Sunderbani, Thandapani, Thalka, Nowshera, Chingus and Rajouri.
They listened to local inputs about the infiltrations as well as overall security situation and noticed that there are reports of fresh infiltrations from across the borders and attempts by Pakistan to give boost to the militancy.
Raman Bhalla said that the Centre Government is directly handling the law and order situation after imposing Governors rule in June 2018 especially after J&K was made a UT but it utterly failed to check militancy especially selective killings at will. During past two years a series of targeted killings have taken place in Jammu and Kashmir especially political activists but the government has no policy to firmly deal with the situation.
The bureaucratic regime has failed to provide adequate security cover to the political activists and other vulnerable mainstream nationalist forces as is seen in several selective killings in past few months.
Terming the incident in the heart of Rajouri city as an eye opener for the Centre and the UT administration, Bhalla said they must realise the gravity of the situation and take adequate security measures to check the rising graph of militant activities and the fresh infiltration.
PCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma and Balwan Singh said that the targeted killings have increased during the past over one year and the incident in Rajouri city and infiltrations from Pakistan are alarming signals. The Central Govt and UT administration must give befitting response to ensure the safety and security of the common citizens, they maintained.
