Militant held, 2 civilians injured in shootout in south Kashmir

1SRINAGAR :  A militant was arrested in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, where two civilians were injured in the exchange of fire between security forces and militants.
Official sources here said following information about presence of militants at a bus stand in Pulwama, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and police launched a joint search operation.
However, when the security forces surrounded a vehicle and asked the militants inside it to surrender, they fired at them. People ran for safety after the shootout.
The security forces reiterated, they said, adding that two civilians were injured in the exchange of fire. The injured, identified as Rehti Begium and Reyaz Ahmad Teli, were immediately taken to a hospital.
In this chaos, the militants fled away from the spot. However, one of them was later overpowered at a distance.    The arrested militant has been identified as Tariq Ahmad. (UNI)
