Militant held, shopkeeper shot at

Srinagar, Mar 19: Security forces today arrested a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant along with weapons in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district while militants fired at and injured a shopkeeper in South Kashmir’s Pulwama town.
Police said that militants fired at shopkeeper, Mudasir Ahmad Malik at Muran Chowk in Pulwama town this evening. He was injured and referred to hospital and his condition was stated to be out of danger.
Security forces and police reached the spot and conducted searches. However, militants had escaped.
Police said on a specific information about the presence of militants, 2-Rashtriya Rifles (RR) of Army and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a search operation at village Rathsun in Budgam district last night.
Meanwhile, a Hizbul Mujahideen militant Abdul Hamid was arrested and one AK rifle, two magazines, one hand grenade and over 80 rounds of ammunition were recovered from him.
A Defence spokesman said here that a joint team of Army and police apprehended an HM militant in a well coordinated swift operation conducted in village Ratsun of Budgam district.
“Based on a specific intelligence input regarding the move of a HM terrorist in village Ratsun, Budgam, a joint operation was launched by Army and JKP last night.
During the operation, the joint team successfully apprehended a HM terrorist along with one AK 56 rifle, two AK 56 magazines, 84 rounds and one Chinese grenade.
The terrorist was later identified as Abdul Hamid Nath son of Mohammad Akbar Nath of Latina, Beerwah of Budgam. The terrorist was involved in many terror related incidents in Budgam area.
An FIR has been registered and the apprehended terrorist has been handed over to the local police station, Budgam”, the spokesman said.
