Srinagar : A militant was killed in an encounter with security forces at Sopore in Baramulla district today, official sources said. They said that on a tip-off, security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint search operation at Bomai in Sopore. However, when the security forces were sealing the area, militants hiding there opened fire which was returned ensuing a fierce encounter. So far, one militant has been killed, they said, adding that the operation was on as there could be more militants in the area..(Agencies)
