Militant recruitment has significantly dipped in last 3 months in Kashmir: IGP

SRINAGAR: Asserting that the recruitment of locals into the militant ranks has significantly dipped during the last about three months in Kashmir valley, Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Kashmir on Monday said it is a positive development.

”It is a positive development that the recruitment in militant ranks has significantly dipped during the last three months, which is proven by statistics,” Mr Pani, flanked by Lt Gen KJS Dhillon, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Srinagar-based 15 Corps and Inspector General of CRPF Zulfiqar Hasan, told reporters during a press conference here.

According to Mr Pani, normally, when a local youth joins the militant ranks, he announces the same on social media or his family files a missing compliant in a police station. However, he said such incidents have significantly decreased in the last three months. (AGENCIES)
