Militant who fled from Bandipora killed in Sopore

Srinagar, Nov 9: A foreign militant was killed in an operation in Rampora area of Sopore in Baramulla district today.

An official said that one militant was killed in the exchange of fire at Rampora area of Sopore after inputs about his presence in the village.
“During a search operation, as the search party proceeded towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired indiscriminately upon them, which was retaliated, leading to an encounter,” he said.
“Acting on a specific input regarding the presence of #terrorists in Rampora #Sopore area of #Baramulla, a joint anti-terrorist operation was launched by Police and security forces. During the search operation, an exchange of fire took place. Further details shall follow,” Kashmir Zone Police wrote on X.
However, later the militant was killed and his body was recovered by the security forces.
The official said that he was the same militant who fled during an encounter in Kaitson forest area of Bandipora district on November 5.

The operation at Kaitson was based on specific intelligence input regarding the presence of militants in the general area of Kaitsan forest. Two security force personnel were injured in the encounter.
This is the second gunfight in Sopore in less than 24 hours.
Earlier yesterday, security forces killed two militants at Sagipora area of Sopore. Commander of the 7th Sector Counter Insurgency Force (Kilo), Deepak Mohan, had described the operation as a “major success” for the security forces.
This is the 4th gunfight in North Kashmir after Bandipora, Kupwara and Sopore in which five militants were killed. Two more militants were killed in Kokernag area of Anantnag earlier this month.
So far seven militants were killed recently in Kashmir after two major attacks in the Sonamarg and Gulmarg areas.
