Militants attack CRPF in Sopore

SRINAGAR, Oct 6: Militants tonight attacked a patrol party of para-military Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) with grenades followed by firing in Main Chowk, Sopore of Baramulla district after which they reportedly escaped.
Reports said the militants lobbed grenades on a patrol party of 179 CRPF and later resorted to firing. The CRPF jawans retaliated.
There were no casualties on CRPF side in grenade attack and firing.
Later, troops of 22 Rashtriya Rifles reached the spot and cordoned off the area. Army, CRPF and police have launched a joint search operation to trace the militants. However, they remained untraced till late tonight.
