SRINAGAR: Militants attacked a police station with automatic weapons this evening at Kulgam, where five weapons were looted from a police post yesterday.
Official sources said the militants fired towards a police station at Yaripora in Kulgam late this evening from a distance. Security personnel guarding the police station also retaliated and the exchange continued for some time.
Sources said the militants later managed to escape under the cover of darkness. There was no report of any damage in the firing, they added.
Suspected militants snatched five Self Loading Rifles (SLRs) from a police post deployed for the protection of minorities. However, after looting the weapons, the militants did not cause any damage to the minorities, they said, adding that a massive hunt has been launched to nab them. (AGENCIES)
