SRINAGAR: A security force personnel was injured when militants attacked a security force search party in south Kashmir district of Anantnag, official sources said this evening.
Security forces and police launched a joint operation at village Arwani Bijbehara in Anantnag district following a tip off about the presence of militants.
However, when the cordon was being laid in the area, militants hiding there opened fire with automatic weapons resulting in injuries to a security personnel who has been shifted to Srinagar hospital. Reinforcement was rushed to the area and cordon was further tightened to foil any attempt by militants to escape. However, since it is now darkness and restrain is being maintained to avoid any damage to civilians.
Further details are awaited, they said adding there could be one or two militants hiding there. (AGENCIES)
