Militants attack security forces in south Kashmir, civilian injured

Srinagar : One civilian was injured when militants attacked security forces early this morning in south Kashmir district of Anantnag.
A police spokesperson here said militants fired at two security force vehicles at village Vesu in Anantnag at 0500 hrs.
He said the bullets hit a private car which was behind the security force vehicles, resulting in injuries to the driver, identified as Arif Ahmad Dar.
“Dar, who was on way to Banihal in Jammu region where he works in a construction company, was immediately taken to a local hospital,” he said.
The injured was later referred to SMHS hospital, Srinagar, where his health condition is stated to be stable.
“About 20 empty cases of AK ammunition have been recovered from the spot,” he said, adding a case has been registered and investigation taken up. (Agencies)
