Srinagar, June 5: A woman was killed while a man was injured today after militants fired upon them in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Police said that militants today fired upon two civilians including a woman identified as Nigeena Bano daughter of Mohammad Ramzan and Jalal-ud-Din Bafanda son of Mohammad Sultan, both residents of Singoo Narbal in district Pulwama.

Both the civilians received critical gun shot wounds, police said, adding that they were evacuated to nearby hospital for medical treatment. However, Nigeena Bano succumbed to her injuries.
Jalal-ud-Din is undergoing treatment at the hospital. However, the target of the militants was Nigeena Bano and Jalal-ud-Din was hit by a stray bullet.
“Police have registered a case under relevant sections in the instant matter. Officers from the local police station are investigating the circumstances of this crime,” police said.
