Militants slip out of cordon

Srinagar, Nov 28: Two militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) this morning slipped out of cordon in Handwara area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Police and Army last night cordoned off Hanji Shat village of Handwara area in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district after specific input about presence of two militants in the village.
Superintendent of Police Handwara, Ghulam Jeelani told Excelsior that the duo fled as the security forces were laying cordon around the village. He said that they have launched massive hunt against them.
Sources said that these two militants are foreigners and have recently infiltrated into Kashmir. They said that they were responsible for last week’s attack on Police Station Kral Gund Handwara and a security forces convoy in which two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were injured.
In the meantime, security has been intensified along Baramulla-Kupwara part of National Highway following increased militant movement.
