JAMMU: Panic gripped the bordering hamlets today when several landmines exploded due to forest fire along the Line of Control in Poonch district.
“Forest fire broke out along the LoC this morning in Balakote sector of Poonch,” official sources here said.
They said the fire might have started due to heat generated in view of rising temperature.
“Several mines have exploded in the forest fire, which wildly spread along the LoC,” sources added.
They added that measures are being taken to control the fire while Army personnel are also monitoring the situation and gearing up to douse the flames so that they do not reach the Army camps. (AGENCIES)
