Mini-bus plunges into gorge, 20 injured

KATHUA, Apr 11: Twenty persons were injured when the mini-bus they were traveling in rolled down in a gorge near Kalibari bridge this morning.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02AH-7944 was on its way to Kathua from Gatti, when the driver failed to negotiate the sharp curve, as a result the vehicle plunged in a gorge near Kalibari bridge.
Negligent driving by the drivers resulted into the accident and grievous injuries to 20 passengers.
On getting information, police team from Kathua police station led by SHO Pardeep Gupta and locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to District Hospital Kathua in police and other vehicles.
Later, six injured persons were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for advanced treatment.
The injured have been identified as Ashok Kumar, son of Sana Ram of Gatti, Rama Devi, wife of Bishamber Dass of Takha, Sapna, wife of Raj Kumar of Bandral, Meenakshi Devi, daughter of Sat Pal of Pallad, Pawan Kumar, son of Lakha Ram of Muthi Rakhwala, Santosh Devi, wife of Sohan Lal of Gurdaspur, Punjab, Preeti, daughter of Jagnandan of Noorpur, Himachal Pradesh, Puran Singh, son of Devi Singh of Chandwaoi, Balbir, son of Chain Singh of Bigwa, Ram Murti, son of Tirth Ram of Pallad, Sushma Devi, wife of Balwant Singh of Noorpur, Himachal Pradesh, Madhubala, wife of Subash Chander of Mirth, Tara Chand, son of Gian Chand of Chak Jagadhar, Asha Devi, wife of Harbans Lal of Nanad, Neha, daughter of Bishan Dass of Chack Jagatpur, Bansi Lal, son of Bhima of Chack Gadadhar, Parkash Chand, son of Singhu Ram of Langate, Renu, wife of Pawan Kumar of Katheda and Bunty, son of Surinder Lal of Palli Morh.
A case has been registered at Kathua police station and manhunt has been launched to arrest the driver, who fled from the spot after the accident.
