UDHAMPUR, Jan 24: Continuing its drive against overloading in passenger vehicles, Traffic Police National Highway under the supervision of SSP NHW Rohit Baskotra registered seized a minibus and arrested its driver for overloading and endangering human lives.
“A team of traffic police from Traffic sub division Udhampur led by ASI Mushtaq Ahmed while routine checking at Patnitop Road intercepted a minibus bearing registration number JK21D-4329 while it was on its way from Udhampur to Chenani,” a spokesman of Traffic police National Highway said.
He said during checking of the minibus, 52 passengers was found sitting in it against the seating capacity of 24 and accordingly, a case FIR 12/2024 US 279/336 IPC was registered at Police Station Chenani for endangering human lives by overloading. The vehicle was seized on the spot and driver of the vehicle namely Manipal Singh son of Baldev Singh was arrested, the spokesman added.
