Minimum temp drops after rains

Srinagar, Aug 12: Amid rains, minimum temperatures recorded a decrease in Kashmir today with weatherman forecasting light to moderate rain at scattered places in J&K in next 24 hours.
A meteorological department official said that in the last 24 hours Pahalgam had 0.4mm, Qazigund and Kokernag 0.2 mm while Srinagar had traces of rain.
Srinagar recorded a low of 19.5°C against 22.4°C on the previous night. However, he said, the temperature was 1.2°C above normal during this time of the year.
Qazigund recorded a low of 19.2°C same as on the previous night. The temperature was 2.7°C above normal there.
In Pahalgam, the mercury settled at 16.7°C against 17.1°C on the previous night and it was 3.7°C above normal for the south Kashmir resort.
Kokernag recorded a low of 17.5°C against 19.2°C on the previous night and it was 1.7°C above normal for the place.
Gulmarg recorded a low of 12.0°C against 14.0°C on the previous night. It was 0.1°C below normal for the north Kashmir place.
Kupwara recorded a low of 16.6°C against 18.8°C on previous night and it was 0.7°C below normal for the place during this time of the season.
In the meantime, several villages in Kupwara suffered losses to the crops, especially to paddy, in the aftermath of flash floods caused due to overnight rainfall in this north Kashmir district.
Several rivulets overflowed causing the water to enter agricultural fields and residential areas in Chandigam and Lalpora areas.
The flash floods, which the locals suspected to be due to cloudburst, mainly caused damage in Chandigam in Sogam tehsil and Mandalpora in Lalpora tehsil.
