POONCH, July 14: On the direction of Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin Mohd Choudhary, the staff of Mining Department led by DMO Poonch, Javid Iqbal, seized nine vehicles involved in illegal mining and lifting of raw material without a valid e-challan in different parts of Poonch district.
During operation the team seized three vehicles from Kalai, two from Drungli, three from Jhullas and one Chandimarh, and were later handed over to the police for safe custody.
Additionally, the Department of Mining also dismantled a path used by the mining mafia for illegal mining.
The Department of Mining has issued a stern warning to all vehicle owners not to indulge in illegal mining activities and to not take any material without a valid e-challan. Any vehicle found involved in illegal mining shall be seized, and heavy penalties shall be imposed, the DMO said.
