Minor boy’s body exhumed from grave after 100 days

MENDHAR, Sept 18: Over a hundred days after retrieving him dead from a pond, the Mendhar police authorities today exhumed body of the 14-year-old boy from his grave, suspecting it as murdered case.

The deceased boy Shariq Ahmed, son of Mohd Sadiq, hails from village Gohlad Kalara near Mehdhar in Poonch district. On the directions of the District Magistrate Poonch, the body of Shariq Ahmad was exhumed by a team of doctors in presence of Tehsildar Mendhar, Dr Vikram Kumar, SDPO ZA Jaffri and SHO Mendhar Manzoor Kohli from the local graveyard, after authorities suspected apprehensions of murder of the teenager. The family members of the deceased were also present.
The body was taken to Sub District Hospital, Mendhar for conduct of post-mortem. BMO Mendhar Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Khan, heading the team of doctors at SDH Mendhar said that necessary medico-legal formalities have been conducted after exhumation of the body.
Shariq, a 10th standard student, was the lone son of his parents, who have four daughters. Several villagers suspected to be involved in the killing of the teenage boy, have been taken into custody for questioning by police.
