UDHAMPUR, Sept 3: A four-year-old girl was mauled to death allegedly by a leopard at village Upper Manjila, Narore in Udhampur district.
Reports said that four-year old Kritika, daughter of Ganesh Kumar was allegedly taken away by the leopard when she ventured out of her home at Upper Manjila last evening around 8 pm.
Later, her half-eaten body was recovered from the nearby forest by the Police search parties in the early hours of Sunday.
The incident has triggered a grief and panic in the area even as the Wildlife Protection Department has laid traps at different places in the forest to capture the leopard.
According to the locals, a number of such incidents of attack by bears and leopards have taken place in the area but no action was taken by the Wildlife Protection Department.
