Minor killed in road mishap, youth dies due to drowning

JAMMU, Feb 5: A minor boy was killed today in a road mishap in Nanak Nagar area of city outskirts while a young man died due to drowning in Bathindi area.
“Jaivir Singh (17) son of Taranvir Singh, resident of Sanjay Nagar, was killed on the spot this evening after he lost control over a bike which he was riding and fell down on the road along with his bike in Nanak Nagar area,” a police official said.
He said the body of the deceased was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for postmortem while Gandhi Nagar police had registered a case in this connection and started investigations.
Meanwhile, a 21-year-old youth namely Khursheed Ahmed Mir son of Ghulam Mohd Mir, resident of Kangan (Ganderbal), allegedly fell down this morning in an underground water tank at a house in Jalalabad, where he was living presently along with his relatives.
In unconscious condition, the youth was rushed to a private hospital near his residence, where he passed away after some time. The body of the deceased was later shifted to GMCH Jammu for postmortem while inquest proceeding in this connection was initiated by the concerned police.
