JAMMU, Nov 14: Vice chairman of Minority Department of JKPCC, S Gurdarshan Singh has expressed serious concern over the neglect of minority communities in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
A meeting of the Minority Deptt/ Cell of the JKPCC was held here today at PCC office Shaheedi Chowk Jammu which was presided over by its vice chairman Gurdarshan Singh and attended by Michael Wazir, Jagjit Singh, Baldev Singh Wazir, Rajinder Singh Nathu (Sarpanch), Nassir Masih, Ravinder Singh, AP Singh Pappu, Kamal Deep Singh, Gurmeet Singh, David Sandhu and others.
The members representing various minority communities expressed their views regarding the problems being faced by their respective communities in the Union Territory of J&K.
Speaking on the occasion Gurdarshan Singh expressed his anguish over the continuous neglect of minority communities under the present regime. He urged the various leaders belonging to the minority communities to work unitedly for the development of minority communities in JK UT. “We all need to work together with missionary zeal to take the congress party to every nook and corner and the time will come when all the minority communities will get their due share,” Singh added.
He reiterated his demand of appointment of “Centre Minority Commission Coordinator” in JK UT for the holistic development of minority communities in Jammu and Kashmir. He also appealed to people of minority communities in JK UT to come forward and join the Congress Party which is the only party who fight for the rights of the minorities.
Jagjeet Singh Rimple State Coordinator demanded reservation of four Assembly seats for Sikhs, two for Christians and two for Dogra Muslim communities to mitigate the problems being faced by these communities.
Baldev Singh Wazir District president Minority Dept Jammu Urban demanded introduction of Punjabi language in all Govt as well as private schools in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and installation of statue of Bandha Singh Bahadur at Kunjwani Chowk, Jammu.
