JAMMU, Nov 17: Senior Congress leader, Yogesh Sawhney reacted strongly to the recent resignation of certain Congress members from their posts in protest against incumbent PCC president G.A Mir and claimed that those who have resigned have done so because of their personal and selfish interests.
He further said that after the loss suffered by the Party in 2014 elections, Mir as PCC president played a major role in reviving Congress in J&K through his relentless efforts to implement AICC programmes and reach out to the people in every nook and corner.
Sawhney said that Congress members who have resigned should look into the mirror before throwing blames on others because for the last few years they have been completely inactive in Party programmes.
He also claimed that Congress has been very active in J&K and raised important issues-be it farmers’ rights, price rise of petrol, diesel, essential commodities or others.
The Congress leader said that major credit for all the works done in Jammu province alone including protests, agitations, awareness programmes etc goes to Mir.
“Jammu centric issues have also been given equal importance and attention in the political scenario by the Congress because of his efforts,” he maintained adding that the Party has been vigorously conducting successful programmes and garnering public support day-in and day-out.
He said that it is only some people who want to divide Congress to promote their political goals and objectives so they use such tactics for the purpose.
