POONCH, May 2: In the memory of legendry Gojri poet Khuda Baksh Zaar, the Poonch unit of Gujjar and Bakerwal Employees Association (GBEA) organized an impressive Gojri Mushaira at Ch Wazir Mohd Haqla auditorium at Poonch in which Gojri poets of high repute recited their poetry.
Deputy Chairman of J&K Legislative Council, Jahangir Hussain Mir, legislators Javed Ahmed Rana and Ch Mohammad Akram appreciated the poems of all poets and assured full support to GBEA from their side for the promotion of Gojri literature and culture.
Eminent Gojri scholar, M A Qamar, Congress leader, Ch Abdul Ghani, president GBEA, Ch Mohammad Asad Noomani, besides several others attended the function.
Commending GBEA for organizing the event, the Deputy Chairman in his address exhorted the participants to do their bit to preserve the local language and culture. MLA Mendhar, Javed A Rana and MLA Surankote, Ch Mohd Akram also lauded the activities of GBEA in the promotion of Gojri language and culture.
Earlier, Ch Mohd Asad Noomani in his welcome address presented details of various cultural and educational activities of GBEA. On the occasion renowned Gojri scholar Sheikh Sajjad was also honored for his contribution in promotion of Gojri language.
The poets who recited their poetry included Zahoor Sheikh, K D Maini, Saleem Tabish, Ayaz Saif, Syed Khursheed Kirmani, Dr Amir Hussain Shah, Gulnaz Chouhan besides several others. M A Qamar presided over the function while as Ch Mohd Asad Noomani and Prof Fateh Mohd Abbasi  presented welcome address and vote of thanks respectively.
