Mir reviews progress of developmental schemes in Leh

LEH, June 13: Minister for Revenue Javaid Mustafa Mir chaired a review meeting of the Revenue Department here today.
Deputy Commissioner Leh Saugat Biswas, SSP Leh Dr Sunil Gupta, ADC Leh RK Badyal, SDMs and concerned officials of Nyoma, Khaltse, Kharu and Durbuk blocks besides other concerned officials of Revenue Department attended the meeting.
Deliberating on the issue of regularization of land under the use of army in Leh district, the Minister directed that before processing the land cases for permanent acquisition, rent should be charged from the army from the date the land is under its use.
The meeting also decided that tangible steps would be taken to prevent encroachment of land in the area. It was also decided that army’s land acquisition cases should come through Defence Estates Office (DEO) only.
The Minister also called for taking up the issue of a common area for firing range, parade ground and other multipurpose utilities with the Army.
DC Saugat Biswas, SSP Dr Gupta and ADC Badyal briefed the meeting regarding the developmental and other issues in the area.
Later, the Minister also visited various areas in and around Leh town for on-the-spot assessment of developmental programmes.
