SRINAGAR, June 6: The Pensioners and Senior Citizens Welfare Association has demanded regularization of daily wagers working in Power Development Department (PDD) and Power Corporation of J&K UT.
The Association chief and veteran Trade Union leader, Mir Ghulam Rasool Botvani has made an appeal to Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha seeking his immediate intervention in the matter.
He said on January 14 in 2019 the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting was held under the chairmanship of it’s convener, Chief Engineer Electric M&RE Kashmir (Now KPDCL). In the DPC meeting recommendations were made for conversion of eligible daily wagers in to regular establishment against the available vacancies of Class IV but for the last over two years the decision has not been implemented and the formal orders of regularization are awaited with the result the workers working in the Department for the last 15 to 20 years are unnecessarily suffering.
He said though the daily wagers are backbone of the Department where thousands of posts are vacant due to retirement of employees and whole load is on the shoulders of the daily wagers for restoration of power , upkeep of sub stations, Receiving Stations, Grid Stations, other emergency works etc.
All categories of employees in PDD are being considered by their respective DPCs for promotion but the reasons for not implementing the decision of DPC held on 14.01.2019 is not known.
The Association appealed the LG to issue directives to the concerned officers to issue the regularization orders to the aggrieved daily wagers without further delay.
