SRINAGAR: Minister of State for Forest, Environment, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Cooperatives and Fisheries, Mir Zahoor Ahmad, today visited Cooperative Super Bazaar at Lal Chowk Srinagar to take stock of its functioning.
Secretary Cooperative Department, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Managing Director State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) and other officers of Cooperative Department and SRTC accompanied the Minister.
On the occasion, Mir Zahoor underscored the need of face lifting of the Cooperative Super Bazaar and said that the business unit is not only profit making unit and a source of supplying essential consumer goods to the public at reasonable rates.
The Minister was apprised that the Cooperative Super Bazaar has sold Rs 7.41 crore worth consumer goods including departmental sale and earned a net profit of Rs 22.86 lakh during 2016-17, while as it sold Rs 1.83 crore worth consumer goods and earned a net profit of Rs 6.97 lakh during the current fiscal up to ending April.
While visiting various business counters of household goods, stationary, electric, furniture, and others within the Complex of Super Bazaar, he was briefed by the officials about the working of the business unit and the products available for the buyers at discount rates. He was told that people can benefit by availing discount ranging from 5 to 50 percent on various goods at the Bazaar.
He expressed satisfaction over the working of the Super Bazaar. He appealed general public to visit Super Bazaar and avail the benefits being offered to the consumers by the Cooperative Department.
During the visit, detailed discussions were held on rent assessment wherein the Minister directed the Cooperative Department to hold a meeting with SRTC and R&B Department and prepare revised rent assessment report.
He also interacted with the employees of the unit who projected their demands. The Minister gave them a patient hearing and assured them that their genuine demands will be looked into. He asked the concerned to work with utmost dedication and honesty and directed them to provide quality products and ensure availability of sufficient stock of goods to make the unit a success and more profitable one.
