SRINAGAR: The Cooperative Super Bazaar, Lal Chowk Srinagar has sold Rs 6.8 crore worth consumer goods including departmental sale and earned a net profit of Rs 19 lakh during the current financial year ending February 2017.
This information was given by the Cooperative authorities to the Minister of State for Forest, Environment, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Cooperative and Fisheries, Mir Zahoor Ahmad during his visit to Cooperative Super Bazaar, Lal Chowk here today.
While taking stock of various business counters like household goods, electric, furniture, stationary and others within the Complex of Super Bazaar, Mir Zahoor was briefed by the officials about the working of the business unit and the products available for the buyers at discount rates. He was told that people can benefit by shopping of goods by availing discount ranging from 5% to 50%.
The Minister expressed satisfaction over the working of the Super Bazaar. He appealed general public to visit Super Bazaar and avail the benefits being offered to the consumers by the Cooperative Department.
The Minister said that the main objective of Super Bazaar is to supply essential consumer goods to the public at reasonable rates and control the prices. He asked the concerned to work with utmost dedication and honesty. He also directed them to provide quality products and ensure availability of sufficient goods to make it a huge success and a profitable unit.
Mir Zahoor instructed the concerned to maintain cleanliness in and around the sale counters of the Complex.
During the visit, the Commission Based Workers of the Cooperative also met the Minister and put forth some demands including regularization of their services on consolidated basis.
