Srinagar, Aug 22: Security of Hurriyat Conference chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has been enhanced following increased threat perception to the separatist leader.
Sources said that security wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police has issued an order for increasing the security of the separatist leader.
The enhancement comes in the wake of recent threats to several separatist leaders including Mirwaiz. However, after analyses of the threat perception of the separatist leaders, it was decided to enhance the security of Mirwaiz.
Mirwaiz is the only leader outside the main stream who has the elaborate security. A source said that the security has been raised to the level of Z Plus while a top security official confirmed the enhancement of the security but said that it is Z security under which he will have static guard, PSOs and escort.
