MIS for COVID-19 testing labs launched

JAMMU, Apr 23: A meeting was called today by Additional DG Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Scientist (H), ICMR Prof G S Toteja for the launch of Management Information System (MIS) of COVID-19 testing labs and streamlining the supply of testing kits in the entire country.
Officers on Special Duty (OSD) Health and Medical Education (H&ME), UT of J&K, Owais Ahmad and Nodal Officer for COVID-19 testing labs UT of J&K, Dr Jitendra Mehta attended ICMR’s meeting on Dashboard Familiarization through Video Conferencing.
From UT of J&K, MD NHM Bhupinder Kumar, Dr Saleem Khan, HoD/Nodal Officer PSM, GMC Srinagar, Dr Ghulam Hassan Yatoo, HoD/Nodal Officer Hospital Administration, SKIMS Soura, Srinagar, Dr Bashir Fomda, HoD Microbiology, SKIMS Soura, Srinagar, Dr Anjum Farhana, HoD Microbiology, GMC Srinagar, Dr Shashi Sudan, HoD Microbiology, GMC Jammu and Dr Deepak, Nodal Officer COVID-19 and State Surveillance Officer Jammu attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Prof Toteja said that they have designed and operationalized MIS for recording COVID-19 testing and inventory-related information to make system more viable and transparent. He said that this MIS has been activated for use by all approved laboratories (Government and Private), regional and central depots, and ICMR headquarter to allow concerned parties to have visibility of the supply chain data collected in the MIS.
While divulging into the details, Toteja said ICMR has now designed and launched a data visualization tool on the Tableau software and this interactive graphical dashboard offers a secure and easy means of viewing and evaluating the stock positions, stock requirements and MIS usage at a lab, state and national level.
He said that the Government was also taking productive steps vis a vis ensuring that more and more tests are done each passing day. Prof Toteja said that so far 300 labs both govt plus private have been pressed into service and more is being done on expanding the network of labs.
During the course of meeting a presentation was also made by ICMR to familiarize the officials from states and UTs regarding the facilitation, operationalization and use of the dynamic Dashboard.
