KISHTWAR, Aug 30: A meeting of Chinar Power Projects Workers Union (CPPWU) was held today under the chairmanship of Joginder Bhandari, wherein the participants alleged misappropriation of funds in Chenab Hydro Power Projects Workers Union (CHPPWU).
The CHPPWU chairman alleged that when the retrenchment of workers of Dul Hasti Project Kishtwar and Baglihar HE Project Chanderkote the general secretary of CHPPWU, Javed Ahmed Zargar, collected Rs 2000 to Rs 3000 from each retrenched worker with the pretext to file suit in the J&K High Court for their re-employment but no suit was filed by Javed Ahmed Zargar in the Court of Law and the money which was approximately Rs 5 crore was used by him for establishing his business and making property.
“Though an enquiry was initiated against Javed Ahmed Zargar after CHPPWU chairman made a written complaint against him before IGP (Crime) Jammu but he managed to grease the palms of the concerned enquiry officer and the case got closed despite recording statements of retrenched workers”, Bhandari said, adding now he has made a written complaint to Governor, NN Vohra, urging him to direct the DGP J&K Police to depute a team of honest police officers to conduct an impartial enquiry into the matter.
