Missing boy found dead, family protests

RAJOURI, June 28: The family of a 15-year-old 9th class student, Rafaqat Ali, whose body was recovered from the Anas River, today staged a strong protest and blocked the Rajour-Budhal Road, alleging that the boy has been murdered.
The aggrieved family accused the police of negligence and claimed that immediate action could have saved Rafaqat’s life. Alleging that the four youths accompanying Rafaqat has murdered him and disposed of his body in the River, they demanded the registration of a murder case against them.
The protest lasted for six hours until assurances were given by the Administration and police officials. ADC Kotranka Dil Mir, along with Deputy SP Operations Rajouri Shammi Kumar and Tehsildar Kotranka Sahil Ali Shah, assured the family of a free and fair investigation.
The ADC confirmed that DC Rajouri would be contacted to initiate a magisterial inquiry, while Deputy SP Shammi Kumar pledged to personally oversee the investigation and ensure that anyone found guilty would face strict legal action.
Following the assurances, the family agreed to proceed with the post-mortem and legal formalities and deceased boy was laid to rest at 8 PM.
