JAMMU, Dec 8: A missing 10-years old boy has been re-united with family after 4 years due to the efforts of Regional Director, Land Records and Surveys, R K Shavan.
The boy namely Rakesh had arrived in Samba in a train in 2013 but he could not divulge his address because of being illiterate and due to his tender age.
Accordingly, SHO Police Station Ghagwal produced the minor boy before the Court of Additional District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Shavan, who was ADC Samba at that time. He tried his level best to trace the address of missing boy at that time but could not succeed.
In the meanwhile, R K Shavan got the boy admitted in Bal Ashram run by the Social Welfare Department at R S Pura and remained in touch with him during all these years. As a goodwill gesture the officer used to meet the boy on the occasion of Diwali and keep the boy with his family for a week.
Luck struck this time on the occasion of Diwali when the boy could pronounce the name of one of his neighbouring village as “Bounsli”. Mihir Shavan, son of R K Shavan, who is student of Class 6th, started tracking on internet and ultimately narrowed down on some places which gave a lead. Ultimately, the matter was taken up with the District Superintendent of Police of Raigarh, who traced the exact address of the boy and got verification done.
In order to get the foolproof identification the photographs and videos of the boy were also sent to concerned police station and the close relatives of the boy were contacted. The police of Maharashtra deputed a team along with guardians and today R K Shavan along with respected persons of R S Pura handed over the boy to his family members.
R D Kundan DCIO (Retd), Kura Ram Bhagat, Lamberdar, Bhadhur Khan, Daya Ram Bhagat, Ram Paul and MS Jadhav, Head Constable from Raigarh Police were present on the occasion.
