Mission Shakti, Horti Deptt organize one month training prog at DDRC

JAMMU, Aug 17: Mission Shakti Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women, in collaboration with the Horticulture Department, today inaugurated one-month training program on the preservation of fruits and vegetables at the Police Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC), Channi.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Gul Sayed, Chief Canning Officer, Horticulture Department, Shagun Manchanda, District Mission Coordinator, Mission Shakti, Social Welfare Department, Dr Shahnaz Butt, Director, DDRC Channi, Dr Gulnaz Choudhary, Medical Officer, DDRC Channi, Inspector Aarti Thakur, Liaison Officer, DDRC Channi.
The training program will equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills to process fruits and vegetables into value-added products like jams, pickles, candies, sauces, squashes and jellies. This will not only help reduce food wastage but also open up new avenues for income generation.
Speaking on the occasion, the Food Canning Officer emphasized the importance of self-reliance and entrepreneurship, urging them to utilize Government schemes to establish small fruit and vegetable processing units.
“This program is a testament to Mission Shakti’s commitment towards empowerment and creating opportunities for economic independence”, said Shagun Manchanda, District Mission Coordinator, Mission Shakti, adding “we are confident that this training will provide participants with the skills and knowledge needed to become successful entrepreneurs”.
The Horticulture Department, with its expertise in the field, will provide technical support and guidance to the trainees.
