KOLKATA, July 12: Actor-turned-politician Trinamool Congress MP Mithun Chakraborty is likely to be grilled by the Enforcement Directorate in Mumbai later this month in connection with the Saradha scam.
Sources today said the MP would not be summoned to the ED office in Salt Lake here and would be interrogated at his Mumbai residence.
“Mithun is now busy with shooting in Jordon. He has already submitted documents sought by the ED. He will be ready for interrogation after his return to India,” according to Mr B K Sarkar, advocate of the MP.
Earlier, Mr Sarkar said Mithun would call on the officials of the Enforcement Directorate here after July 25.
He said his client would return to India after July 25 and call on the ED, officials when they fixed next date.
The ED, investigating the money trail of the collapsed Saradha Group Ponzi scam, has summoned the actor to quiz him as he was the brand ambassador of Saradha Group media cell.
This was the second time the actor sought extended time to see the ED officials, who wanted to question him in connection with the Saradha scam.
The ED had summoned the actor in mid-June to question him relating to the Saradha chit fund scam. (UNI)
