MJR-47 flays BJP for ignoring DPs

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Feb 26: Taking note of the high level meet of BJP-RSS in Jammu as reported in press, an emergency meeting of Executive Council of MJR-47 was called today.
The members strongly condemned the approach of BJP-RSS leaders to totally ignore the most important issues of DPs of PoJK of 1947. The BJP-RSS meet seems to have forgotten that it’s the vote bank of DP’s of PoJK of 1947 and other refugees which has given the party two parliamentary seats and 25 assembly seats in the last elections. This was only because of the wide shift brought by the hopes raised and promises given by BJP leaders especially PM  Narendra Modi, prior to elections.
The BJP has worked against the DP’s during the present rule, firstly they have reduced the recommended financial relief of Rs 25 lakh  per family by previous State Govt and Rs 30 lakh per family by Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs to Rs 5.5 lakhs that too terming as one time final settlement. The present dispensation has been totally silent on other recommendation viz employment package, reservation for wards of DP’s for higher education, recount of leftover DP families and de-freezing eight assembly seats  for DP of PoJK 1947 and have not taken up the issues even once in the three years with GoI.
The 12.5 lakh DP’s of 1947 from PoJK and Chamb are totally frustrated, disgruntled and lost all their faith and hopes from the BJP. The leadership has acted in the worse way like other parties viz. Congress, NC or PDP who have been doing nothing during the last seven decades since 1947. Even the process of disbursement of relief of Rs 5.5 lakh/DP family seems to being delayed deliberately so that it goes to next election. Despite lapse of 2 long years, payment of relief has been made hardly to 8000 thousand DP families out of 36,384 family taken into account. The DPs are  feeling  disappointed with this recommendation particularly when such action has already been taken by highest body of Parliamentary Standing Committee as well as State Cabinet.
