JAMMU, July 30: Movement for Justice for Refugees of  1947 from PoK (MJR- 47) puts on record its strong protest on being excluded from the meeting being held by Parliamentary Standing Committee (PSC) of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in New Delhi today, to discuss migrants and refugees’ issues.
Expressing reservations on exclusion from the meeting, convener, MJR 47, JS Sudan said, “For Valley migrants, the invitation has been extended to all representative bodies and that too in number which seems to have hardly any justification but no genuine organization of 1947 PoK refugees viz Movement for Justice for Refugees of 1947 from PoK ( MJR 47), Sharnarthi Action committee, PoK DP’s Front, SOS International etc have been called for discussion.”
He pointed out that the Parliamentary Standing Committee is an official organ of the Parliament to listen to the aggrieved and recommend solutions for their problems.  If PSC is reviewing the 137th Report on rehabilitation of J&K Migrants then there is another 62nd Report of Rajya Sabha Petitions Committee dated June 13, 1980 on rehabilitation of displaced persons, who migrated from PoK in 1947, lying pending for action taken for the last 33 years which should also have been taken up in this meeting.
“We strongly lodge our protest with the PSC for the discriminatory, biased and unjustified approach to recommend bonanza-benefits to one section only while keeping more than 12 lakh distressed refugees of 1947 from PoK starving for the last 67 years and seeking justice, Mr Sudan said.
Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal National (SADN), has also condemned the biased attitude of MHA’s PSC for not inviting any of the organisations leading the cause of DP’s of 1947 from PoK for its final resolution in today’s meeting at New Delhi.
General secretary, SADN, Dayal Singh Wazir criticized the chairman of the PSC and former BJP national president, Vainkaya Naidu, for calling more than ten organisations of Kashmiri migrants and people from his own Party in the meeting posing as representatives of DPs from PoK for exploiting the huge vote bank of refugees in the coming Parliament and Assembly poll of 2014.
He asserted that no one-sided announcement for any kind of package is acceptable to DPs until and unless its organisations are taken into confidence.
