Srinagar, Oct 4: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) legislator Aijaz Mir today alleged harassment at the hands of the police during questioning in weapons loot by his Personal Security Officer from his official residence in Jawahar Nagar last week.
Mir alleged that a policeman abused him while levelling serious allegations and accusations against his family. ”Is this a policing? How can a Munshi (policeman), of Rajbagh Police Station, abuse a legislator in front of dozens of other policemen? And then went on levelling serious allegations, accusations against his family as well. Is this how Police probes things here by humiliating even legislators and start levelling baseless allegations?” Mir wrote on Facebook.
Adil Bashir, a resident of Zainapora Shopian, who was his PSO ran away 7 AK-47 rifles and one pistol from his residence and joined Hizbul Mujahideen.
Police has formed SIT to investigate the weapon loot. Seven security guards of the legislator were detained and suspended.
