JAMMU, Apr 6: In a significant move aimed at alleviating the water scarcity issues faced by farmers in the Bishnah constituency, particularly those residing in the border villages, Dr Rajeev Kumar Bhagat, MLA Bishnah, ceremoniously opened the irrigation water (canal head) at Pandorian.
The event, attended by local farmers, Irrigation Department officials, and community leaders, marked the culmination of persistent efforts by Dr Bhagat to address the long-standing water woes that have hampered agricultural productivity in the region. The opening of the Pandorian canal head is expected to significantly improve irrigation facilities.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Bhagat emphasized his commitment to the welfare of the farmers, particularly those living in the challenging conditions of the border villages. He highlighted the importance of irrigation in sustaining agriculture, which forms the backbone of the local economy.

He further instructed the Irrigation Department to ensure that the water reaches the tail end of the Bishnah constituency, leaving no farmer deprived of this essential resource.
The Irrigation Department officials assured the MLA and the farmers of their commitment to ensure the efficient distribution of water. They outlined the measures being taken to maintain the canal and ensure that water reaches all the designated areas.
Dr Bhagat reiterated his commitment to working closely with the farmers and the Irrigation Department to ensure the sustainable management of water resources. He also pledged to continue advocating for the development of infrastructure and other essential facilities that would benefit the farmers and the community at large.
