MLA claims to make Mendhar model constituency

MENDHAR, Nov 29: With the sanctioning of model cluster village, MLA Mendhar and senior National Conference leader Javed Rana today said that he will work for making Mendhar a model Assembly Constituency.
Speaking in a meeting at Gursai (Mendhar), the MLA said that  Government of  India has sanctioned model village in Mendhar and it has been sanctioned for  Gursai Sai Ganji  village named after a famous Sufi saint.  He congratulated the villagers of the area.
MLA also visited the place where foundation stone will be laid for the cluster model village and requested Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to herself lay the foundation stone.
“It was the long pending demand of the people and promise which was made to the people of Mendhar. We have proposed two more model villages in Mendhar and they are in the pipeline,” said Javed Rana.
He said that Mendhar got one cluster model village, out of total five sanctioned cluster model villages across Jammu division. He hoped that the Union Government will timely provide the funding so that the work for the model village in Gursai can be taken up.
This project will improve road connectivity and the livelihood of the people.
Sharing details of funds, MLA  said that the Govt has allocated Rs 10 crores for model village in Gursai out of which Rs 3 crore will be given by the Tribal Affair Ministry, Rs 4 crore would be given by the Planning Department and Rs 3 crores would be arranged from other Government departments. A residential school for border people has also been sanctioned in Poonch.
“Aklaviya Model Residential School has been sanctioned in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch where 500 students including 240 boys and 240 girls can pursue their studies from class first to 12th standard,”  Rana said.
