DODA, May 16 Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Doda, Shakti Raj Parihar today inaugurated up-gradation works of two major link roads in Bhagwah area of his Constituency.
The 15 kilometer road from Doda to Bhagwah would be upgraded with estimated cost of Rs 1797.71 lakh and 7.42 kilometers Dangotra to Ganika road with an estimated cost of Rs 849.15 lakh to provide smooth road connectivity to thousands of people living in remotest corners of this area where people are still living primitive lives even after independence of 70 years with no road connectivity.
Parihar said the Central and State Governments are committed to provide road connectivity to rural areas, besides ensuring uninterrupted power and regular water supply to the people in every corners of the State.
He said earlier the roads were under State Government’s Public Works and Roads and Building (PWD,R&B) Department but due to low funding, up-gradation work on these roads were hanging in balance, but now the roads have been taken over by Prime Minister Grameen Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) to resolve this problem.
“The work has been resumed for the up-gradation of roads including black topping and widening so that people get proper road connectivity at their door steps. Roads are not only providing connectivity to any area but also connect them with development and to open new avenues of development at the grass root level.” he added.
While highlighting the achievements, MLA said, “in very short time we have achieved many milestones in Doda. The people of Jammu and Kashmir were fed up with Congress and NC and they voted us for the change. During our short tenure, we have successfully achieved many milestones such as Medical College for Doda, alternative National Highway via Sudhmahadev-Marmat, Defence road for Bhagwah, Ganpat bridge are some of our achievements in very short time”
