MLA, ex-Minister, AMCCC delegation call on Governor

JAMMU, Dec 16: MLA Khansahib, former Minister, delegation of All Migrant Camps Coordination Committee and Sadhbhavna group from Bhaderwah today called on Governor, N N Vohra at Raj Bhavan.
MLA Khansahib Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen briefed the Governor about the various difficulties being faced by the people living in his constituency and apprised him about the status of the ongoing scheme of ‘UMEED’, under the National Rural Livelihood Mission.
He also informed the Governor about certain issues relating to the ‘Model Villages’ scheme, under the Border Area Development Programme and the status of various other Central and State sponsored schemes in his constituency. He also discussed with the Governor the serious difficulties being faced on account of the power situation and other constraints being faced by the people in the Valley in general and his constituency in particular. He also apprised the Governor about his views on the Tosh Maidan Army Firing Range.
Former Minister, R S Chib briefed the Governor about issues relating to the implementation of developmental  programmes  in R S Pura Sub Division, problems faced by farmers and the status of agricultural activities in this border area.
The Governor was also briefed regarding the to date status of various projects launched for the development of the border tourism in the area.
All Migrant Camps Coordination Committee apprised the Governor about the various issues confronting the Kashmiri Pandit community and requested that the policy made for the return and rehabilitation of the Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir valley should incorporate Confidence Building Measures and time bound removal of all encroachments on the lands belonging to the temples, shrines, orchards and other immovable properties of the Pandits.
The Committee also requested the Governor to see that high priority is given to the eligible persons getting Government jobs under the Prime Minister’s Employment Package and the upper age limit should be relaxed as a onetime measure, particularly in the case of families, which have no serving Government employee.
The Governor stressed the need for a well coordinated approach among all the organisations fighting for the cause of the Kashmiri Pandits so that their issues could be resolved on an early basis. He made enquiries from the delegation about the electricity and sewerage facilities available at the Purkhoo Migrant Camp and Jagti Transition Camp and allotment of flats to the Kashmiri Pandit Migrants in the new townships made exclusively for their rehabilitation.
The Governor asked the Committee to furnish specific cases of encroachment of immovable properties and lands belonging to the temples and shrines in Kashmir valley so that necessary action under law could be initiated.
A group of 25 students from Bhaderwah area of Doda also called on Mr Vohra.  A 12 day educational tour of Maharashtra State for this group of students was organised by the 4 Rashtriya Rifles (Bihar) of Indian Army under ‘Operation Sadhbhavana’. The students visited various places of historical and cultural importance in Mumbai and Pune.
The Governor interacted with the students and asked them questions about their tour. He presented to each of them a memorabilia of their visit to the Rajbhavan and wished them a bright future ahead.
Navin K Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor and officers of 4 Rashtriya Rifles were present on the occasion.
