MLA flags off Shankhpal Yatra in Pancheri

UDHAMPUR, July 19: A large number of people from Udhampur, Ramban and Reasi today participated in Raja Shankhpal Yatra in Landhar area of Pancheri block today.
MLA Udhampur, Balwant Singh Mankotia from National Panthers Party, who was the chief guest on the occasion, flagged off the historic yatra and addressed the large gathering of devotees. The people performed religious ceremonies on the occasion and offered special prayers before the yatra started for its destination.
While addressing the large gathering, Mankotia expressed that this yatra has religious importance and faith. The people believe that Raja Shankh Pal would shower blessings on them. He asked the people to continue this faith and tradition and take part in this pilgrimage every year with great enthusiasm and religious fervor.
Referring to the Gool incident where four persons were killed, the NPP legislator appealed the people to maintain communal harmony, peace and brotherhood among all the sections of society and communities. He demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident. The MLA also listened to the problems of the people and maintained that he will take up the same with the concerned authorities.
