MLA inaugurates Employment-cum-Awareness Fair

POONCH, Dec  23: MLA, Poonch,  Ajaz Ahmed Jan advised unemployed youth of District to take full advantage of Sher-e-Kashmir Employment Welfare Policy for Youth (SKEWPY) launched by the State Government. He said that there is a lot of employment potential in sectors related with Tourism, Hotel Management, Agriculture, Fisheries, Apiculture, Floriculture, Horticulture and Education. He impressed upon them to explore self employment opportunities and avail the benefits of schemes launched by various departments.
MLA was addressing unemployed youth after inaugurating 2-days District Level Employment-cum-Awareness Fair in Poonch.
About 34 stalls were setup by various departments and banks to provide information to the unemployment youth regarding various schemes.
On this occasion, Mr. Jan handed over keys of 5 vehicles to youth who were registered under SKEWPY and vehicle where delivered to them on spot. Besides 4 youth who have started their own entrepreneurship by obtaining financial assistance under SKEWPY were provided mementos for encouragement.
Earlier, Dy. Director Employment,  Ashok Kumar presented a resume of activities of District Employment and Counselling Centre Poonch. As many as 37201 unemployed youths were registered during the current year upto November last. They include 25354, male and 11847, female.
About 564 youth under SKEWPY were sponsored to various banks for sanctioning of financial assistance whereas 2036, unemployed educated youths were provided Voluntary Service Allowance (VSA) assistance of Rs. 75.00 lakh during this period, Dy. Director added.
