NEW DELHI, Sept 20: MLA Kathua, Rajiv Jasrotia called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh here today and submitted to him a Rs 20 crore Amusement Park proposal for his perusal.
The proposal titled “Entertainment Zone” at Kathua in J&K is based on PPP (Public Private Partnership) model and envisages a park with capacity of approximately 3000 persons on a land measuring 12 to 15 acres.
The proposed “Entertainment Zone”, when ready, will not only have the capacity to cater to Kathua region, but also to two important cities of Jammu and Pathankot, and will possibly be the first of its kind located north of Jalandhar town.
Dr Jitendra Singh appreciated the diligent documentation work for the proposal done by Rajiv Jasrotia and assured him that he would work on different options available to carry forward this project. Meanwhile, Jasrotia informed that the land for proposed entertainment zone can be identified by local residents of Kathua.
Referring to several landmark projects initiated in Kathua during last two years, Dr Jitendra Singh mentioned the proposed centrally funded Medical College for which the foundation stone will be laid shortly and the centrally funded Engineering College which is to come up under “Rashtriya Uchha Shiksha Yojana” (RUSY). In roads and bridges section, Dr Jitendra Singh said, Keediyan-Gadhiyal bridge funded by Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Atal Setu bridge funded by Union Ministry of Defence and Juthana bridge funded from Central Road Fund have turned a new leaf in the development activities, while the proposed Bio-tech Park  by Union Ministry of Science & Technology will be the first of its kind in north of Delhi and the Seed Processing Unit recently approved by the Union Ministry of Agriculture will also be the first of its kind in the region.
All these projects, Dr Jitendra Singh said, when accomplished,will prove to be game-changers and source of huge revenue and employment generation.
In addition, Dr Jitendra Singh referred to Rs 4 crore central fund which was sanctioned for the indoor stadium in Kathua when he was holding the additional charge of the Union Sports Ministry.
The MPLAD and CDF funded Dreamland Park near the Deputy Commissioner’s office and Kendriya Vidyalaya at Janglore are also new additions to Kathua in the last one-and-a-half year, said Dr Jitendra Singh while the proposal for new railway station to be constructed in Kathua city at the cost of Rs 20 crore is also being vigorously followed-up with the Union Ministry of Railways.
With the allocation of another Rs 55 crore central fund for PGSYM roads, Dr Jitendra Singh said, almost all the pending road projects have been sanctioned by the Centre. He hoped that the State Government will also move ahead expeditiously to carry forward the Centrally sponsored projects which promise to develop Kathua as a model district of Jammu & Kashmir.
Rajiv Jasrotia thanked Dr Jitendra Singh for his support and constant follow-up with various Central Ministries. He also requested that the State Government may be persuaded to cooperate in carrying forward the project for upgradation of road from Mah to Ghati via Maroli and other villages which is estimated to cost approximately Rs 87.24 crore and which will revolutionize the connectivity and accessibility in the area.
